Immigration and employer support

No job offer, employer interest, LMIA or work authorization is assumed. The employer and the applicable route must meet their own requirements.

From November 3, 2026

From November 3, 2026, a job offer that is valid under Express Entry and is in an occupation on IRCC's high-wage list earns 50, 70 or 100 CRS points instead of none, without needing an LMIA, and you get these points or your Canadian work experience points, whichever is higher.

Note

A written offer is not by itself entitlement. From November 3, 2026 an officer has to be satisfied that a qualifying job offer is genuine: that the employer is actively engaged in the business the offer is made for, that the offer reflects its reasonable employment needs, that the employer can reasonably meet the terms, that you are qualified and able to do the work and likely to accept and carry it out, and that the employer has followed employment and recruitment law. An offer that is revoked no longer qualifies, and a work permit on its own is not a job offer. Where you or a family member owns part of the employer or takes part in the hiring, expect those questions to be examined closely, and keep the incorporation, financial and recruitment records for the position to hand.

Note

Unless you are exempt, your settlement funds must be your own and available, not borrowed or tied up in property, shown by letters from each bank listing balances, six-month averages and debts. You don't need proof of funds if you're invited under the Canadian Experience Class, or if you're authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer; IRCC's system still asks everyone for a proof of funds document, so in that case you upload a letter explaining why. Keep your funds up to date in your profile, since you may not know ahead of time which program you'll be invited under.

Read the occupation and province requirements

Published catalogue checked 2026-10-25. Immigration, professional licensing and employer recognition are separate.

Three different questions

  1. ECA for immigration: verify the assessed education and report expiry used in the assessment.
  2. Permission to practise: check the intended activities and province with the relevant regulator. No extra licence is invented to complete a story.
  3. Employer recognition: compare actual job requirements, experience and portfolio before buying a voluntary credential.

Prepare before paying for another credential

Collect the degree, ECA and employment evidence already used in Maria’s profile. Compare the exact role’s requirements before paying for optional training.

Government immigration fees, regulator charges, voluntary certification and professional advice have different purposes. Obtain applicable published fees or quotations; no unverified fee is included in the sample budget.

Catalogue limits and occupation evidence

Not regulated. Several bodies issue agile certifications and employers differ about which they expect, so the certification to hold depends on the employer rather than on the law.

  • A complete licensing route has not been verified for this occupation and destination. Use the preparation plan to start gathering evidence and identify the requirements to confirm. An unchecked requirement is not treated as absent, and any regulated work needs the destination regulator’s decision.
  • Preparation guidance is available for each occupation and destination. A published licensing route adds requirements checked against the regulator’s own pages and released through the firm’s review process. Where that review is incomplete, the plan separates actions you can take now from requirements, costs and locations that still need confirmation. Preparation guidance does not establish whether you qualify for a licence, and an unchecked requirement is not treated as absent.

Conditional future scenarios using the released study planner

Plan using today’s rules and stated assumptions. Start: 1 September 2027. Province: British Columbia. Fictional CLB 9 listening / CLB 8 other English skills are assumed renewed when required; one year of authorized, paid, qualifying Canadian skilled work is an additional scenario.

Master of Data Science

Baseline CRS 356 → graduation 413 → plus one qualifying work year 491.

Completion 2028-07-01, age 26; work scenario 2029-07-01, age 27.

No nomination, job offer, admission, permit or employment is assumed. The work scenario is conditional on all required authorizations.

All calculation assumptions
  • The program starts September 1, 2027 and runs 10 months, so it ends July 1, 2028. The length is the usual length of this credential, not a fact about any one program: change it to the real length and the dates move with it.
  • The estimate is worked out for July 1, 2029, when you would hold the credential and have 1 year of skilled work in Canada, at the age you would be then (27).
  • The credential is earned in Canada, full time, at a designated learning institution, and it is a credential IRCC counts for its Canadian education points.
  • You have valid language test results at the levels you gave us when you apply. Results more than two years old earn no points, so the projection dates them to that day rather than counting results that would have expired.
  • Your existing credential stays assessed: an ECA report earns points for five years, so the projection dates yours to that day rather than counting an expired report.
  • The work after you finish is paid, skilled, authorized work in Canada, which is what work on a post-graduation work permit would be. IRCC decides that permit after the program ends, against the rules that apply then.
  • No provincial nomination, which is worth 600 points on its own.
  • No job offer, and no extra points for working in a high-wage occupation: those depend on the occupation and on IRCC’s published list, which nobody can settle for a job you do not have yet.
  • No change to your language results, and nothing for a second official language you do not have yet.
  • the occupation (NOC) of your main skilled job in Canada

Master’s graduates may qualify for a three-year PGWP, subject to all applicable conditions and passport validity. CLB/NCLC 7 in all four abilities, eligible study history and application deadlines still matter. A prior PGWP prevents a second one. Verify current requirements before enrolment and again before applying.

Adjust the fictional monthly budget

Six-month planning subtotal: $22,000.

The same budget calculation used in Success in Canada totals these inputs. Changes stay in this page and are not saved to an account.

Immigration/application fees, professional fees, health insurance, childcare and licensing/training costs are not priced here. Obtain applicable amounts before committing. This subtotal is therefore incomplete until those applicable costs are added.
