Leila’s sample assessment

What the rules engine found for Leila’s made-up answers: the paths it examined, what each one needs, and what it couldn’t decide.

Leila, an AI-generated fictional character

Released at once, or held for a lawyer?

Our lawyers approve the rules an assessment is released on. Routine ones are released at once; anything unusual waits for a lawyer first, and so does anything resting on a rule a lawyer has not approved yet. Here is what would happen to this one.

Held for a lawyer

A real applicant with these answers would wait for a lawyer to review the assessment before seeing it, because:

  • Some requirements need professional judgment.

This made-up sample wasn’t sent to a lawyer as an assessment: the hold shows what would happen for a real applicant.

Pathways examined

Leila’s sample report says: “You’re aiming for: Super Visa (visit Canada). We checked your answers against 13 requirements for your goal. Here’s what we found: 10 appear to be met and 3 need a lawyer to look closer.”

  1. Parent and grandparent super visaA lawyer looks closer

From what you told us, 10 of 10 requirements checked appear to be met. A lawyer needs to look closer at: Ties to home country and intent to leave at the end of the visit; Enough money for the stay; Visitor conditions and default authorized period of stay.

Four different questions

Eligible, competitive, up to an officer, and what to file

Meeting the entry requirements isn’t the same as being chosen. The sample keeps apart what the law requires, how a program ranks people, what an officer decides, and what the application itself needs. Every requirement the report checked is in one of the four.

Legal eligibility

What the law and the program’s rules ask of this person before they can apply.

  • 2 for a lawyer to look at
  • 6 look good
  • Enough money for the stayA lawyer will look closer · Visitor visa (temporary resident visa) / electronic travel authorization (eTA)Official source
  • Visitor conditions and default authorized period of stayA lawyer will look closer · Temporary residents: general conditionsOfficial source

Selection competitiveness

How the person would rank against other candidates, where the program ranks them at all.

This program doesn’t rank applicants against each other, so there is no score to beat.

Discretionary outcomes

What an officer weighs and decides beyond the checklist.

  • Ties to home country and intent to leave at the end of the visitA lawyer will look closerOfficial source

Applying and filing

How to apply, what to file and what it costs: not whether the person qualifies, but what the application needs.

  • Who needs a visitor visa (visa-required nationalities)Looks good

You appear to need a visitor visa (not just an eTA) to travel to Canada. If you are applying for a super visa, the super visa is your visitor visa: a multiple-entry temporary resident visa valid for up to 10 years, or until your passport or biometrics expire if that comes first, so you do not need a separate one. This depends on the passport you will travel on, so check it against that passport.

The letter must promise financial support for your stays in Canada, include proof that your host meets the minimum necessary income, and list everyone counted in your host's family size, with the number of people and each person's name and date of birth.

Your answers: Is your host at least 18, living in Canada, and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian: Yes · Will your host (your child or grandchild) write and sign a letter of invitation that promises to support you financially during your stays, includes proof of their income, and lists everyone counted in their family size with each person's name and date of birth: My host will write and sign it before I apply · Who will you visit or stay with in Canada: My son Karim Haddad and his family in Montreal. · and 1 more answers

  • Super visa: private health insuranceLooks good

Your health insurance appears to meet the super visa requirements: it is (or will be) from a Canadian insurance company, or from a company outside Canada that is authorized by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), appears on OSFI's list and issued it while doing insurance business in Canada; it covers health care, hospitalization and repatriation; it gives at least $100,000 of emergency coverage; it is valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry and for each entry; and it is paid in full or in instalments with a deposit (quotes aren't accepted). • Super visa: apply from outside Canada; visa-exempt applicants; feesLooks good

You appear to be outside Canada, so you can apply for the super visa from abroad, as required. The super visa fee is $100 per person, plus an $85 biometrics fee if you need to give biometrics. If you have given biometrics before, you may not need to give them again, but IRCC can't issue a super visa valid for longer than your biometrics, or for longer than 10 years from the last date you gave them. If you'd like a longer visa, you can choose to give your biometrics again when you apply, even if they're still valid. A visitor visa is generally valid for up to 10 years or until your passport or biometrics expire, whichever comes first. Applicants from visa-exempt countries pay neither fee.

Your answers: Which country do you live in right now: Lebanon · What is your immigration status in Canada right now, if you have one: Outside Canada: no current Canadian status · Which country are you a citizen of? • Super visa: immigration medical examLooks good

You have had an immigration medical exam with an IRCC panel physician in the last 12 months, or are ready to have one, as every super visa applicant must. IRCC advises having it before you apply (an upfront exam); with an upfront exam, you must include the panel physician's confirmation document with your application. Results are valid for 12 months, so if you don't come to Canada within that time, you may need another exam.

What’s working for you, and what’s in the way

Here’s what the rules say, based on your answers.

Working for you

  • You appear to hold a valid passport that remains valid for at least six more months; your stay in Canada cannot extend past its expiry.
  • You reported no criminal, medical or immigration enforcement issues that would raise an admissibility concern.
  • You appear to need a visitor visa (not just an eTA) to travel to Canada. If you are applying for a super visa, the super visa is your visitor visa: a multiple-entry temporary resident visa valid for up to 10 years, or until your passport or biometrics expire if that comes first, so you do not need a separate one. This depends on the passport you will travel on, so check it against that passport.
  • You appear to be the parent or grandparent of your Canadian host, as the super visa requires.
  • Your host appears to be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian who is at least 18 and lives in Canada, and has signed, or will write and sign, the letter of invitation a super visa needs. The letter must promise financial support for your stays in Canada, include proof that your host meets the minimum necessary income, and list everyone counted in your host's family size, with the number of people and each person's name and date of birth.
  • Your host's most recent income appears to meet the minimum necessary income for the family size you reported.
  • Your host appears able to document the minimum income, ideally with Canada Revenue Agency notices of assessment.
  • Your health insurance appears to meet the super visa requirements: it is (or will be) from a Canadian insurance company, or from a company outside Canada that is authorized by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), appears on OSFI's list and issued it while doing insurance business in Canada; it covers health care, hospitalization and repatriation; it gives at least $100,000 of emergency coverage; it is valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry and for each entry; and it is paid in full or in instalments with a deposit (quotes aren't accepted). Carry proof of it each time you enter Canada, and renew it if it will expire before you leave.
  • You appear to be outside Canada, so you can apply for the super visa from abroad, as required.
  • You have had an immigration medical exam with an IRCC panel physician in the last 12 months, or are ready to have one, as every super visa applicant must. IRCC advises having it before you apply (an upfront exam); with an upfront exam, you must include the panel physician's confirmation document with your application. Results are valid for 12 months, so if you don't come to Canada within that time, you may need another exam.

Still need to know

What we assumed

What this assessment took as given. If any of it is wrong, change your answer and we’ll prepare a fresh one.

  • We checked your answers as they stood on November 1, 2026, against the rules in force then. A change announced after that day isn’t included here.
  • We took your passport as valid on the day you apply. Key dates above says when it stops counting; after that date the result changes.
  • 6 answers you wrote in your own words were not read by the rules: they only read the questions with set answers. A lawyer reads what you wrote.

Documents & dates

Dates come from the saved facts and applicable rules. Confirm them against your records.

Key dates

Worked out from the dates you gave us. Check each one against your own documents.

  • May 14, 2030Your passport expires. A super visa can't be valid past this date, so renewing your passport before you apply (and, if you gave biometrics before, giving them again) may get you a longer visa

Documents to gather

Sharing
No access is granted by downloading this report. Sharing with an advisor requires your separate, explicit permission.

The dashboard, downloadable PDF and consented advisor copy use this same saved assessment. New facts or rule changes require a new version; an earlier version stays intact.

Action ranking: Recorded status deadlines and conflicting evidence come first, followed by missing eligibility facts, applicant-controlled improvements, documents and dependent opportunities. Applicant-reported dates still need document verification. The size of a hypothetical points gain is not a probability or the sole ranking factor. Costs and completion times are not estimated without a source.

This is a starting point, not a decision. It is based on your recorded answers, before document verification. Only the competent government authority can decide an application.

We use Government of Canada and provincial or territorial government pages for immigration requirements and published figures. We calculate your estimates from your answers. Our own guides and Marketplace listings are labelled separately. We never use lawyers’, consultants’, forum or news sites as sources.

Good to know

  • Unless you are exempt (for example, under 14, over 79, or a visa-exempt national coming only to visit), you need to give biometrics when you apply, for a fee of $85 per person (at most $170 for a family of 2 or more people applying at the same time). If you are applying as a visitor, student or worker and have given biometrics before, you may not need to give them again, but a visa or permit can't be issued for longer than 10 years from the last date you gave them; you can choose to give them again, even if they're still valid, to get a longer one.
  • IRCC fees (confirmed before filing) include $100 for a visitor visa or extension, $7 for an eTA, $150 for a study permit, $255 for a PGWP, $246.25 to restore status and $85 for biometrics.
  • If you hold a super visa, you may usually stay up to 5 years per entry; before your authorized stay ends you must leave or apply to extend, and keep your health insurance valid.
  • IRCC says that if you want to stay for 6 months or less, you may be eligible to apply for a regular visitor visa instead of a super visa (if your citizenship requires a visa to visit Canada). Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months, while a super visa lets you stay for 5 years at a time. A regular visitor visa does not have the super visa's requirements for private health insurance or a host who meets the minimum income, though you must still have enough money for your stay, and for a stay of 6 months or less a medical exam is generally not needed. If your plans are close to 6 months, a lawyer can help you choose in a consultation.
  • Rules, programs and how people are selected can change, sometimes quickly.
  • Meeting the minimum requirements doesn’t guarantee an invitation or an approval.
