Which pathways need a closer look?

Arjun, we need more information before we can say where this stands. What we still need to know is below.

Permanent residence and intra-company work permits

Current CRS: 304. This is the baseline, not a prediction of selection.

Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker Program: More information needed.

An intra-company transfer requires evidence of the employer relationship, prior foreign employment and the Canadian role. A temporary work permit is separate from permanent residence.

Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker Program

We need a bit more info

Supporting inputs

  • FSW minimum: one year of continuous skilled work in the primary occupation within 10 years
  • FSW minimum language CLB/NCLC 7 in all four abilities, and grid language points

Still to resolve

  • FSW 67-point pass mark on the six selection factors
  • FSW grid: adaptability points (max 10 combined)

Eligibility, selection and an officer’s decision remain separate.

The first evidence gaps

Occupation-based category rounds: 12 months in one listed occupation within 3 years

None of the jobs you told us about gives you 12 months of full-time work (or the same amount part-time) in the last 3 years in one occupation on IRCC's current lists for the healthcare and social services, STEM, trade, education, transport, physician, senior manager or researcher categories (for the physician, senior manager and researcher categories, the work must be in Canada), so those category rounds may not be open to you. General and program-specific rounds can still invite you if you qualify for them. If you worked 12 months in the last 3 years in a different occupation that is on these lists, those category rounds could still apply.

Does not appear to meet

Express Entry: Category-based selection

FST: occupation must be an eligible skilled trade group

Your current occupation is not in a skilled trade group that the Federal Skilled Trades Program accepts (NOC 2021 Major Groups 72 except 726, 73, 82, 83, 92 and 93 except 932, Minor Group 6320 or Unit Group 62200), so this program may not be open to you unless you have at least 2 years of qualifying work in one of those trades in the last 5 years.

Does not appear to meet

Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (SOR/2002-227)

CRS spouse or common-law partner factors (max 40) and when a spouse counts

We need to know whether your spouse or partner will come to Canada, whether they are a Canadian citizen or PR, and their education, language level and Canadian work.

Information missing

Express Entry: Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) criteria

Intra-company transfer: a separate work-permit question

Arjun, your answers suggest a direction worth investigating. Here’s why, and what to do next.

  • Temporary work permits: general requirements (IRPR s. 200): A lawyer needs to look closer at: Temporary intent: will leave Canada by the end of the authorized stay.
  • Temporary work permits: general requirements: From what you told us, 0 of 2 requirements checked appear to be met. We still need to confirm: Enough money for self and family during the stay and to return home; Admissibility and prohibited employers.
  • Temporary work permits: general requirements (IRPR s. 200(3)): From what you told us, 0 of 1 requirement checked appear to be met. We still need to confirm: Mandatory refusal grounds in IRPR 200(3).

The same supplied background is tested against this alternative route. Missing job, employer, language or education evidence is not silently filled in.

How applicants are chosenNothing here to check

Meeting the entry requirements is one step. It is not an invitation or an approval.

The rules we hold don’t give us a score or quota to compare you against here. The decision-maker can still choose among people who meet the entry requirements.

What it takes in practiceNothing here to check

Money to show, documents to gather, dates to meet and the steps to file.

No requirement of this kind came up for this pathway.

What needs human judgmentNothing here to check

An officer decides these, or a lawyer has to weigh them with you. No calculation settles them.

Selection outlook

Historical evidence, with its category, period and uncertainty. No numerical forecast.

Insufficient evidence for selection outlook

Confirm the affected profile inputs and score before comparing with historical cutoffs.

Assessment date
October 26, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. UTC
Historical window
No comparable source window recorded.

Historical cutoffs describe past discretionary rounds. They are not an invitation probability, an application approval estimate or a promised date. A whole-pool count does not describe a category-specific pool.

Improve your prospects

Compare changes to your own facts. Conditional examples are separate from your current-law result.

Working through what you can change

Let’s take the open requirements one at a time: what your answers tell us, what you can work on, and what to check before spending time or money. Missing information comes first; it may need confirming rather than fixing.

Temporary work permits: general requirements

  • Money you can show
Enough money for self and family during the stay and to return home

We need proof of your available funds, such as bank statements, to compare with your family size, the community where you will live and your work permit program; IRCC sets no fixed amount for work permits.

    Confirm this first

The answers behind this finding: What's your marital status: Married; What do you expect the work permit to be based on: LMIA-exempt employer-specific work permit.

For Temporary work permits: general requirements, this is an unanswered question, not a confirmed shortfall. Settle it before spending time or money trying to fix it.

    How to take this forward
    1. Confirm the missing detail in the finding above from your records, then update your answers. If you already meet the requirement, you may need evidence rather than a change in circumstances.
    2. Separate money you can document and use from assets, commitments and amounts that may not qualify under this requirement. Check the official source before counting any of them.
    3. Work out whether the remaining gap fits a realistic savings or investment budget. Keep living costs and other commitments in view before choosing a route that requires more money.

Before you commit. Showing funds is different from paying a fee or making an investment. Do not move or commit money until you understand which this requirement asks for and what evidence it accepts.

Temporary work permits: general requirements (IRPR s. 200(3))

  • Work experience
Mandatory refusal grounds in IRPR 200(3)

We need to confirm you have never worked or studied without authorization or broken permit conditions, that your employer is eligible, and that your qualifications fit the job.

    Confirm this first

The answers behind this finding: Within the last 5 years, how much work experience do you have in your current occupation: 6 years or more; What's your highest level of education: Master's degree, OR professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession (For “professional degree,” the degree program must have been in: medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, optometry, law, chiropractic medicine, or pharmacy.); What do you expect the work permit to be based on: LMIA-exempt employer-specific work permit.

For Temporary work permits: general requirements (IRPR s. 200(3)), this is an unanswered question, not a confirmed shortfall. Settle it before spending time or money trying to fix it.

    How to take this forward
    1. Confirm the missing detail in the finding above from your records, then update your answers. If you already meet the requirement, you may need evidence rather than a change in circumstances.
    2. Make a dated work history with duties, hours and supporting records. Identify which periods meet the requirement above and which need clarification.
    3. If you need more qualifying experience, establish the next experience threshold and whether you can lawfully do that work. Keep the evidence as you go.

Before you commit. Past experience cannot be changed. Additional experience takes time, and the work must qualify; a job title alone does not settle that.

IMP: Intra-company transferees [R205(a) – C61, C62, C63; formerly C12]

  • Your business plan or structure
Qualifying relationship between foreign and Canadian enterprises

We need ownership and control documents, such as share registers and articles, showing a parent, subsidiary, branch or affiliate relationship between the foreign and Canadian companies.

    Confirm this first

The answers behind this finding: Which of these work permit categories (ones that don't need an LMIA) is being considered: C12 intra-company transferee; Thanks. What status or result are you hoping for in Canada? Pick the one that fits best.: Employer-specific work permit.

For IMP: Intra-company transferees [R205(a) – C61, C62, C63; formerly C12], this is an unanswered question, not a confirmed shortfall. Settle it before spending time or money trying to fix it.

    How to take this forward
    1. Confirm the missing detail in the finding above from your records, then update your answers. If you already meet the requirement, you may need evidence rather than a change in circumstances.
    2. Put the requirement above beside your proposed ownership, role, activity and location. Identify the specific feature of the plan that would need to change.
    3. Work out the commercial cost and feasibility of that change before buying, restructuring or signing an agreement. Check any required community or government decision first.

Before you commit. A business change must work commercially as well as meet immigration conditions. Spending more or buying a business does not by itself secure immigration status.

Doing any of these does not mean a path would open. Each one changes a single requirement; the others still apply, and a lawyer can tell you which are worth the effort in your case.

Review supporting factors, barriers and assumptions

What’s working for you, and what’s in the way

Here’s what the rules say, based on your answers.

Working for you

  • Nothing so far from what you told us.

In the way

  • Nothing so far from what you told us.

Still need to know

  • We need proof of your available funds, such as bank statements, to compare with your family size, the community where you will live and your work permit program; IRCC sets no fixed amount for work permits.
  • We need to review any possible admissibility concern or past refusal, and confirm your employer is not on IRCC's non-compliant employers list or in a prohibited sector.
  • We need to confirm you have never worked or studied without authorization or broken permit conditions, that your employer is eligible, and that your qualifications fit the job.
  • We need ownership and control documents, such as share registers and articles, showing a parent, subsidiary, branch or affiliate relationship between the foreign and Canadian companies.
  • We need to confirm whether your job, or time spent in certain countries in the past year, requires an immigration medical exam with an IRCC panel physician.
  • We need the offer of employment number from your employer's Employer Portal submission, showing the LMIA exemption code relied on, before you apply.
  • We need the Employer Portal receipt for the CAD 230 employer compliance fee, or documents showing a fee exemption, before you apply.
  • We need to confirm which exception lets you apply from inside Canada, such as a valid permit held by you, your spouse or a parent, or a pending spousal, partner or family-class permanent residence application.
  • Before a port-of-entry application, we need to confirm you are visa-exempt or a U.S. permanent resident, whether you live in Canada, and that your LMIA, offer number or open-permit papers are ready.

What we assumed

What this assessment took as given. If any of it is wrong, change your answer and we’ll prepare a fresh one.

  • We checked your answers as they stood on October 26, 2026, against the rules in force then. A change announced after that day isn’t included here.
  • You skipped one question, so nothing here relies on it: Do you have a job offer in Canada.
  • If we couldn’t tell whether a requirement applies to you, we kept it in view. That means 2 requirements here may turn out not to concern you.
  • One answer you wrote in your own words was not read by the rules: they only read the questions with set answers. A lawyer reads what you wrote.

Documents & dates

Dates come from the saved facts and applicable rules. Confirm them against your records.

What the supporting records must show

What your records will have to show

Your answers flagged these points to check in your records. We haven’t seen the documents yet; each item tells you what would settle it.

Let’s look at what your records need to show. We’re working from your answers and haven’t seen the documents. Each item explains what may follow if it stays unresolved, and what would settle it. None of it is a prediction about your application, and none of it is scored.

Missing documents and other requirements

  • That the settlement funds a program requires are shown by the recordsNote for your records

You gave the settlement funds available to you as 55000, for a family of 4.

Where a program requires settlement funds, the amount is established by the documents filed rather than by the figure given here, and the figure has to be met on the day it is assessed. Funds the records do not establish, or that are not available to be used, cannot support the requirement.

What settles it: Official letters from every bank or financial institution holding your money, on their letterhead, with their contact details, your name, your outstanding debts, and for each account its number, the date it was opened, the current balance and the average balance over the past 6 months, together with an account of any money that is not yours to use.

Sharing
No access is granted by downloading this report. Sharing with an advisor requires your separate, explicit permission.

The dashboard, downloadable PDF and consented advisor copy use this same saved assessment. New facts or rule changes require a new version; an earlier version stays intact.

Action ranking: Recorded status deadlines and conflicting evidence come first, followed by missing eligibility facts, applicant-controlled improvements, documents and dependent opportunities. Applicant-reported dates still need document verification. The size of a hypothetical points gain is not a probability or the sole ranking factor. Costs and completion times are not estimated without a source.

This is a starting point, not a decision. It is based on your recorded answers, before document verification. Only the competent government authority can decide an application.

We use Government of Canada and provincial or territorial government pages for immigration requirements and published figures. We calculate your estimates from your answers. Our own guides and Marketplace listings are labelled separately. We never use lawyers’, consultants’, forum or news sites as sources.

Good to know

  • Expect IRCC fees of about CAD 155 per work permit, plus CAD 100 for an open work permit, CAD 85 for biometrics, or CAD 401.25 to restore worker status; check IRCC's fee list before you pay.
  • Rules, programs and how people are selected can change, sometimes quickly.
  • Meeting the minimum requirements doesn’t guarantee an invitation or an approval.

Ontario

Ontario Workforce Priority stream: selection evidence

Ontario scores an expression of interest on its own factors, which are not the federal CRS factors. Its page does not publish the score needed for an invitation, or how candidates are ranked against each other, so a higher score does not show that an invitation or a nomination follows.

This stream does not rank candidates by federal CRS. An invitation is required; none is assumed.

Published selection factors: NOC TEER category; Occupational category; Hourly wage; Ontario work experience; Canadian earnings history; Legal status in Canada; Canadian education credentials; English or French test results; Knowledge of both official languages; Location of the job offer.

British Columbia

Skills Immigration: selection evidence

British Columbia scores a registration on its own factors and invites candidates from a registration pool, publishing a minimum score for each draw on its invitations to apply page. That page also says future high economic impact invitations to apply may be based on different factors, so the score is not the whole of the decision, and nomination remains the province's.

This stream does not rank candidates by federal CRS. An invitation is required; none is assumed.

Published selection factors: Human capital factors; Wage of the job offer; Location of the job offer.

Selection source checked 2026-10-21; this is not a personal eligibility finding.

Pathways

Eligibility, selection, feasibility and professional judgment are separate findings.

Paths worth a look

Here are the paths your answers brought into view, with what supports each one and what still needs attention.

  1. Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker Program

We need a bit more info

From what you told us, 10 of 12 requirements checked appear to be met. We still need to confirm: FSW 67-point pass mark on the six selection factors; FSW grid: adaptability points (max 10 combined).

Each path, four questions at a time

Let’s take each path in four parts: can you apply, how are people chosen, what would you need, and what needs human judgment? Meeting one part doesn’t settle the others.

Can you applyLooks good

The requirements that decide whether this pathway is open to you.

How applicants are chosenNeed more info

Meeting the entry requirements is one step. It is not an invitation or an approval.

Your answers suggest 2 of 4 requirements checked appear to be met; 2 need more information.

Express Entry ranks everyone in the pool. Your estimated ranking score is 304. Here’s how selection works for this path: FSW 67-point pass mark on the six selection factors; FSW grid: work experience points (max 15); FSW grid: age points (max 12); FSW grid: adaptability points (max 10 combined). Meeting the entry rules of a pool or a stream is not an invitation, a nomination or an approval: those are separate decisions.

How we got there

We checked each requirement against your answers. Here’s what we found, with the government page beside it.

Express Entry: occupation-based category rounds

  • Occupation-based category rounds: 12 months in one listed occupation within 3 yearsNot met

Selection outlook

Historical evidence, with its category, period and uncertainty. No numerical forecast.

Insufficient evidence for selection outlook

No reliable personal comparison can be made until current score inputs and dated access to a round in the same category version and CRS regime are established. This is not a forecast of future draws.

Your scores, factor by factor

Our calculation We worked these estimates out from your answers using the points tables published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Your Express Entry ranking score uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). IRCC calculates the real score from your profile and documents.

The pass mark is 67. Your estimate is 3 below it. These points decide whether you can enter the pool under this program; they don’t rank you.

What you could do next, and what it could change

Your score is a starting point. Let’s look at the changes your answers let us calculate, what each would involve and which decisions are in your hands. Each example holds your other answers and the assessment date fixed. It is not a prediction of your score after time has passed.

CLB 9 or higher in all four abilities of your first official language

CRS estimate: 304 → 375 (+71 points).

Under the rules from November 3, 2026: 304 → 375 (+71 points).

Federal Skilled Worker selection points: 64 → 67 (+3 points). This reaches the 67-point pass mark; the program’s other requirements still apply.

You can work on this

You reported listening CLB 9, reading CLB 8, writing CLB 8, speaking CLB 8, tested on 2026-06-15.

Language points can change both your language score and the points you receive when language is considered with education or work experience. The estimate above includes those interactions.

How to take this forward
  1. Put your result sheet beside IRCC’s conversion table. The target in this example is listening CLB 9, reading CLB 9, writing CLB 9, speaking CLB 9. Focus preparation on the abilities below that target.
  2. Try a practice test before paying for a new test. Use the approved test and version listed by IRCC, then enter your actual new results to reassess.

Before you commit. Preparation, a test fee and a new result are needed. A higher result is not assured. If your results have expired, this example includes renewing them; changing the level alone would not restore their validity.

French test results at NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities, keeping your English results (French-language rounds also need this)

CRS estimate: 304 → 366 (+62 points).

Under the rules from November 3, 2026: 304 → 366 (+62 points).

Federal Skilled Worker selection points: 64 → 68 (+4 points). This reaches the 67-point pass mark; the program’s other requirements still apply.

You can work on this

Your first official language is English. For the second language, you reported “No”.

This example adds French at NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities while keeping your first-language answers. It shows the effect for your profile, including any points that interact.

How to take this forward
  1. Start with an assessment of your current French level. Compare the gap in each ability with this target before committing to lessons.
  2. Choose a preparation plan you can sustain, check the approved test and its cost, and reassess only after you receive the results.

Before you commit. Starting a language from scratch may take substantial time and money. We have not assessed your learning needs or estimated how long this would take. Your first-language results also need to remain valid.

A provincial or territorial nomination

CRS estimate: 304 → 904 (+600 points).

Under the rules from November 3, 2026: 304 → 904 (+600 points).

Federal Skilled Worker selection points: 64 → 64 (no change). This would still leave 3 points to reach the 67-point pass mark.

Depends on another decision

You have not confirmed a provincial nomination.

A nomination can change the score substantially, but it is a separate selection process. The gain shown accounts for any additional points already in your estimate.

How to take this forward
  1. Start with the provincial paths in this report and their unresolved requirements. Check the official stream page for whether it is accepting applicants and how it selects them.
  2. Consider only a province where you genuinely intend to live. Check its job, occupation, experience and other conditions before spending money on an application.

Before you commit. You can prepare and apply where the process allows; the province decides whether to nominate you. The size of the points gain says nothing about how attainable a nomination is.

These are separate examples, each starting from the same answers. Do not add the gains together: factors interact and points are capped. Use the “What if” tool to recalculate a combination. A higher score does not guarantee an invitation or approval.

On March 15, 2027 you turn 43, and your age points go from 25 to 15. Age is not something you can change. Keep this date in view when weighing a plan that takes time, alongside the expiry dates of your test results and documents.

How the Labour Market Integration points were worked out

0 points

This factor is an announced change. It applies from November 3, 2026, so it is part of the estimate from that day and not of today’s.

On your answers neither your Canadian work experience nor a job offer gives points under this factor.

The most it can give in your situation is 140 points.

Working through what you can change

Let’s take the open requirements one at a time: what your answers tell us, what you can work on, and what to check before spending time or money. Missing information comes first; it may need confirming rather than fixing.

Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker Program

  • Education
FSW 67-point pass mark on the six selection factors (until November 2, 2026)

We need to confirm your age, education and ECA, four language levels from an approved test, skilled work years, job offer details and adaptability factors (Canadian work or study, relatives, spouse) to estimate your FSW score.

    Confirm this first

The answers behind this finding: What is your date of birth: 1984-03-15; What's your highest level of education: Master's degree, OR professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession (For “professional degree,” the degree program must have been in: medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, optometry, law, chiropractic medicine, or pharmacy.); If you earned your highest diploma, degree or certificate outside Canada, do you have a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): Yes.

For Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker Program, this is an unanswered question, not a confirmed shortfall. Settle it before spending time or money trying to fix it.

    How to take this forward
    1. Confirm the missing detail in the finding above from your records, then update your answers. If you already meet the requirement, you may need evidence rather than a change in circumstances.
    2. Check the credential and any assessment report you already hold against this requirement, including the equivalency and validity dates.
    3. Before paying for more study, establish whether the issue is missing evidence, an assessment, or a qualification you do not yet have. Compare the time and cost of the actual gap.

Before you commit. A course or assessment costs money and takes time. An institution or assessment body decides its outcome; enrolment alone does not establish a completed qualification.

  • Work experience
FSW grid: adaptability points (max 10 combined) (until November 2, 2026)

We need to confirm your Canadian work or study, close relatives in Canada, any job offer, and your accompanying spouse's language, Canadian study and work to count FSW adaptability points.

    Confirm this first

The answers behind this finding: What's your marital status: Married; Will your spouse or common-law partner be coming with you to Canada: Yes; On your spouse or partner's official English or French test, what's their lowest CLB/NCLC level across the four skills: No valid test.

  • You appear to have at least one year (1,560 hours) of continuous paid work in your primary TEER 0 to 3 occupation within the last 10 years, with matching duties.
  • You appear to have approved test results under two years old showing at least CLB/NCLC 7 in all four abilities, the Federal Skilled Worker minimum.
  • You appear to have a Canadian credential or a foreign credential with a valid Educational Credential Assessment, as the Federal Skilled Worker Program requires.
  • You appear to earn FSW work-experience points: 9 for one year, 11 for 2 to 3 years, 13 for 4 to 5 years, 15 for six or more.
  • Based on your date of birth, you appear to earn FSW age points (12 from age 18 to 35, then one fewer each year to 1 point at 46), counted on your application date.
  • No health condition is reported for you or your family members that would raise a medical inadmissibility concern; the immigration medical exam is still required.
  • No charge or conviction is reported for you or your family members, so criminality does not appear to be a concern; police certificates are still required.
  • No previous misrepresentation finding is reported for you or a family member; every answer and document must stay accurate and consistent with past applications.
  • No criminal, health, misrepresentation or other admissibility concern is reported for your family members, including any not coming to Canada.
  • Based on your date of birth, you appear to earn CRS age points; the most are given from age 20 to 29, falling each year to none at 45.
  • Your education appears to earn CRS points, through a Canadian credential or a foreign credential with a valid Educational Credential Assessment.
  • Your approved first-language test results appear to earn CRS points; higher CLB/NCLC levels in each ability earn considerably more.
  • You appear to earn CRS skill-transferability points by combining education or foreign work with strong language or Canadian work, or a trade certificate with language.
  • You appear to have an immigration Educational Credential Assessment for your foreign credential; it must be under five years old when you apply.
  • You appear to intend to live outside Quebec or, as a nominee, in the province or territory that nominated you, as these programs require.
  • Your settlement funds appear to meet IRCC's amount for your family size, or you appear exempt as someone authorized to work in Canada with a valid job offer. Applicants invited under the Canadian Experience Class don't need proof of funds either.
  • Your results appear to be from an approved test (CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training, PTE Core, TEF Canada or TCF Canada) and less than two years old.
  • Your primary occupation appears to be TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3, the levels Express Entry programs accept. Confirm your NOC by matching your actual duties to the NOC lead statement and main duties, not your job title; a lawyer can check this with you in a consultation.

In the way

  • None of the jobs you told us about gives you 12 months of full-time work (or the same amount part-time) in the last 3 years in one occupation on IRCC's current lists for the healthcare and social services, STEM, trade, education, transport, physician, senior manager or researcher categories (for the physician, senior manager and researcher categories, the work must be in Canada), so those category rounds may not be open to you. General and program-specific rounds can still invite you if you qualify for them. If you worked 12 months in the last 3 years in a different occupation that is on these lists, those category rounds could still apply.
  • Your current occupation is not in a skilled trade group that the Federal Skilled Trades Program accepts (NOC 2021 Major Groups 72 except 726, 73, 82, 83, 92 and 93 except 932, Minor Group 6320 or Unit Group 62200), so this program may not be open to you unless you have at least 2 years of qualifying work in one of those trades in the last 5 years.

Still need to know

  • We need to confirm your age, education and ECA, four language levels from an approved test, skilled work years, job offer details and adaptability factors (Canadian work or study, relatives, spouse) to estimate your FSW score.
  • We need to confirm your Canadian work or study, close relatives in Canada, any job offer, and your accompanying spouse's language, Canadian study and work to count FSW adaptability points.
  • We need to know whether your spouse or partner will come to Canada, whether they are a Canadian citizen or PR, and their education, language level and Canadian work.

What we assumed

What this assessment took as given. If any of it is wrong, change your answer and we’ll prepare a fresh one.

  • We checked your answers as they stood on October 26, 2026, against the rules in force then. A change announced after that day isn’t included here.
  • You answered "not sure" or "not decided" to 2 questions, so we treated them as not yet known rather than as a "no": What do you expect the work permit to be based on; Are you assessing whether you qualify for a new application under the current Ontario Workforce Priority job-offer criteria, rather than an earlier application, an existing nomination or the self-employed-physician category.
  • You skipped 2 questions, so nothing here relies on them: Tell us a little about your background and what you hope to do in Canada.; Is there anything else you would like us to understand about your goals or your situation.
  • If we couldn’t tell whether a requirement applies to you, we kept it in view. That means one requirement here may turn out not to concern you.
  • We took your educational credential assessment and your language test results as valid on the day you apply. Key dates above says when each stops counting; after that date the result changes.
  • 2 answers you wrote in your own words were not read by the rules: they only read the questions with set answers. A lawyer reads what you wrote.
  • We used the family size you gave (4) for every amount of money a rule asks you to show.

Documents & dates

Dates come from the saved facts and applicable rules. Confirm them against your records.

Key dates

Worked out from the dates you gave us. Check each one against your own documents.

  • June 15, 2028Language test results reach two years old (submit your PR application before this date)
  • March 1, 2030Educational credential assessment (ECA) reaches five years old (complete your profile and submit your PR application before this date, or ask the organization that issued it whether it can re-issue it)

Documents to gather

Based on your answers, these are the documents the government requirements ask you to gather. We’ve grouped them by program so you can work through them.

Economic permanent residence: admissibility

  • Immigration medical exam for applicant and all family membersTo gather

You and all family members, including anyone not coming to Canada, need an immigration medical exam by an IRCC panel physician; Express Entry applicants get it after being invited and before applying. If you live in Canada and had an exam in the last 5 years showing low or no risk, you may be able to reuse it.

Application stage: Confirm the personalized checklist Confirm the application stage against this program’s current personalized document checklist.

Official source: Medical examination for permanent residence applicants

  • Police certificates for Express Entry applicants and family membersTo gather

You and family members aged 18 or older need police certificates for each country, other than Canada, where you lived six months or more in a row since age 18 in the last 10 years.

Application stage: Confirm the personalized checklist Confirm the application stage against this program’s current personalized document checklist.

Official source: Express Entry: Police certificates

Express Entry: system and pool

  • Employment evidence, and the occupation code your duties have to supportTo gather

Work experience is read against what the occupation's description says, not against your job title: IRCC looks for the lead statement and a substantial number of the main duties, including every essential one. For Canadian work it asks for employer reference letters covering each period you claim, with your work permit and your T4 slips or Notice of Assessment, or other records that substantiate the work, such as a letter of employment, contracts and pay stubs. Time while you were a full-time student does not count. Check that each letter states your duties, your dates, your hours and your pay, and that the duties in it are the duties you actually performed.

Application stage: Application filing Confirm whether this document appears in your personalized checklist after invitation; it is not required from every applicant.

  • Points and eligibility have to be supported by documents that are still validTo gather

Every figure in your estimate rests on a document, and the document has to still be valid on the day you submit. If your score is recalculated below the lowest score in the round you were invited in, IRCC says to decline the invitation; applying anyway can mean a refusal and no refund of the application fee. An expired language result, a lower retest, a job offer that has ended or a nomination that has been withdrawn all lower a score. Check the date on each language result, each credential assessment and each bank letter against the date you expect to submit, and ask for a replacement early where one will be needed.

  • Acceptable settlement funds and proofTo gather

Unless you are exempt, your settlement funds must be your own and available, not borrowed or tied up in property, shown by letters from each bank listing balances, six-month averages and debts. You don't need proof of funds if you're invited under the Canadian Experience Class, or if you're authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer; IRCC's system still asks everyone for a proof of funds document, so in that case you upload a letter explaining why. Keep your funds up to date in your profile, since you may not know ahead of time which program you'll be invited under.

Application stage: Profile creation; Application filing Information may be needed for the profile; document copies follow the personalized application checklist after invitation.

  4. Plan and prepare

French test results at NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities, keeping your English results (French-language rounds also need this)

This example adds French at NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities while keeping your first-language answers. It shows the effect for your profile, including any points that interact.

    Owner
    You
    Timing
Starting a language from scratch may take substantial time and money. We have not assessed your learning needs or estimated how long this would take. Your first-language results also need to remain valid.
    Dependencies
Start with an assessment of your current French level. Compare the gap in each ability with this target before committing to lessons.; Choose a preparation plan you can sustain, check the approved test and its cost, and reassess only after you receive the results.
    Documents
See the document checklist for the relevant pathway.
    Why this priority
You can work on this; Ranking uses feasibility and prerequisites before the size of the points gain.
    Uncertainty

  5. Plan and prepare

CLB 9 or higher in all four abilities of your first official language

Language points can change both your language score and the points you receive when language is considered with education or work experience. The estimate above includes those interactions.

    Owner
    You
    Timing
Preparation, a test fee and a new result are needed. A higher result is not assured. If your results have expired, this example includes renewing them; changing the level alone would not restore their validity.
    Dependencies
Put your result sheet beside IRCC’s conversion table. The target in this example is listening CLB 9, reading CLB 9, writing CLB 9, speaking CLB 9. Focus preparation on the abilities below that target.; Try a practice test before paying for a new test. Use the approved test and version listed by IRCC, then enter your actual new results to reassess.

  • Until November 2, 2026, job offers earn no CRS points. From November 3, 2026, a job offer that is valid under Express Entry and is in an occupation on IRCC's high-wage list earns 50, 70 or 100 CRS points, depending on the occupation's level, and it no longer needs an LMIA; you get these points or your Canadian work experience points, whichever is higher, not both. Even if its occupation is not on the high-wage list, a valid offer can still help with FSW arranged-employment points, the proof-of-funds exemption, FST eligibility and some provincial streams.
  • Express Entry starts with an online profile; you enter the pool only if you meet FSW, CEC or FST, invitations follow CRS rank, and a profile expires after 12 months without an invitation.
  • If invited, you have 60 days to apply, with police certificates and medical exams for you and your family (a recent exam may be reusable if you live in Canada); your language results and ECA must still be valid when you submit, or the application is refused.
  • If a province or territory nominates you, an Express Entry-linked (enhanced) nomination adds 600 CRS points, while a base nomination leads to a separate PR application outside Express Entry.
  • Rules, programs and how people are selected can change, sometimes quickly.
  • Meeting the minimum requirements doesn’t guarantee an invitation or an approval.
